Door Hanging Service:

Hanging doors…….easy right! Old one off. New one one…..10 minute job……WRONG!

If the room is square. If the floors are level. If the frames and plum and true then hanging a door is a relatively painless task equipped with the correct tools and knowhow. But this is rarely ever the case! Doorways are like snowflakes….no two are quite the same…..and often require what we technically refer to as “a bit of faffing”. But with the right knowledge and experience you can work around these problems to achieve a well-fitting door.

A well fitted door should not only look nice but also function correctly. You should use it every day but never notice it. It shouldn’t squeak or bind. It should fit the frame true with a subtle even gap all around. Hinge recesses should be clean and perfectly sized to support the hinge in taking the weight of the door. Believe it or not, there is a wrong way and right way round to fit a hinge (I so often see doors with reversed hinges on them - compromising the ‘hang’ of the door…..Ive actually seen doors fitted upside down but that’s a whole other level of incompetence). Handles and hardware should be fitted cleanly and true and at the correct height ensuring smooth operation for the user.

If you’re replacing your interior doors and require a door hanging service, please contact me for further details.
